As a by-product of the gasification process planned to be used at the proposed FuturGas facility to produce synthetic liquid transport fuels, some 40MW of low-emissions electricity generation can be provided to support the increasing South Australian customer demand for electricity, beyond the middle of the next decade.

In particular the FuturGas facility will assist in reinforcing the electricity supply to the South East region, and may also support the development of wind farms in the vicinity.

 

The FuturGas facility will support the rising demand for electricity caused by the expansion of the minerals, defence and agriculture industries.
